She's pretty conflicted! she also is dressed like a weirdo, and barefoot. And there's a rapier at her side, embedded in the ground so she can draw it quickly without it getting in the way while she sits.]

He wishes to prove himself. You wish for him to learn his own skill. Is this not the best solution? All get what they want.

Except no one does at all. I want him to learn, yes, but at his speed. He may learn that thaumaturgy isn't for him! He's certainly learned that disobeying his teacher isn't for him.

But he won't learn anything if he's humiliated by a stronger mage, except that those with power can and perhaps should let it get to their head.

I don't claim to understand half of what I'm told about Au Ra, but you mentioned him being a "Raen", as if that somehow excused you from trying to humiliate my student.

As I said, he is a Raen. His people have had their lands taken, and those that remain live in hiding under the water. And he is here, learning to fight.

[She points her rapier at him.]

The strength he seeks will never be attained by coddling.

Why don't you let me, his teacher and someone who has known him since he and his sister arrived in Ul'dah, decide that? I know his strengths and how to teach to his weaknesses. I'm sorry, but you don't.

I am Ibakha Wanderer. There is no place in the world my feet have not touched. Should this boy desire strength in order to fight back against the ironmen who stole his home from his people, then I will make him strong, in this life or the next.

Again, he came to the guild for teaching and then to me. Let me make him stronger, and if he wants to track you down and fight you later that's his choice. Student chooses the master or whatever that saying is.

I have been to your guild. It was of no help to me when I needed it. I fail to see how it could do better now.

To each their own. I couldn't make it as an arcanist, but I'm not going to disparage their craft.

I'm the only thaumaturge. It's hard to compare strength when you have so many different talent sets in a family.
