Ibakha Dotharl is one of the Dotharl tribe of the Steppe, who believe that those who die gloriously are reborn as Dotharls.
Ibakha, specifically, is an oddball among the Dotharls- Every lifetime, Ibakha leaves the Steppe and goes wandering. It's said that the oldest, the first Ibakha was searching for something, but what that something is has long since been lost to time, and now Ibakha simply wanders for the sake of it, to see more of the vast, beautiful world.
Unfortunately, this lifetime, Ibakha's had no shortage of problems. Ending up at Ul'dah penniless and unable to speak the language, she had everything down to the clothes off her back taken from her. A kindly Miqo'te man took her in, and ended up teaching her the ways of red magic, which she soon put her own spin on, copying the beasts of the wild she was so familiar with in her travels.
Eventually, though, Ibakha awakened the Echo, and became the Warrior of Light, growing from a nigh-feral jerk who hated everyone in Eorzea to a proper hero, bringing her formidable magicks to bear in saving the star.
